SALON STATISTICS – MARKET DATA – PART1

Turnover is not the same as profit, although people often get confused. These are two different numbers, equally important for every business.

By turnover we mean the total gross income of a salon either from services or from retail sales.

Turnover is also one of the most important indicators for every beauty salon business. Both compared to previous periods and to the market average.

TOTAL TURNOVER

For the first nine months of 2022 the average total turnover of approximately 63 hair salons showed an increase of3,8% compared to 2019. The increase is extremely significant. It shows that the business is healthy and that it has great chances of profit.

On the other hand, we know that for the period of 2022, the average number of visits has decreased by -15%compared to 2019.

So, the increase of the turnover has occurred due to the increase of the average client expenditure as the visits have been decreased.

AVERAGE RATE

The average rate is the result of dividing the total turnover by the total visits. So, we get the average turnover of each visit.

The average rate for the first nine months of 2022 has increased by 21,6% compared to the first nine months of the year 2019. It used to be 33,3 € and in 2022 has been 40,5€.

The average rate has increased due to the technical salon work in colorations, the treatments and price increases.
